Encouraging social inclusion

Farrow Friends offer a befriending service that offers companionship to those who are struggling with loneliness, or who are finding it difficult to interact with social activities that they would usually enjoy. If you are struggling with loneliness Farrow Friends can support you an a variety of ways such as:

  • Attending events with you on a 1:1 basis

  • Helping you to and from social activities with transport

  • Being a friend to come with you for hobbies and tasks

  • Encouraging and supporting you to build friendships in group activities

  • Supporting communication (such as helping you to use the phone to stay in touch with loved ones)

  • Being an ear to listen on days where things feel tough

  • Popping round for a cup of tea to put the world to rights with you, and talk about all of your favourite things.

  • Be a friend to visit you between family visits (whether you are living at home or in a care environment)

Companionship

It can be tough for those who are struggling with loneliness. We offer an impartial and person centered approach to all of our services. The level of support we offer is completely dependent on your needs. If companionship is a service you are interested in, we can discuss with you the ways in which we can support this. This could be with weekly phone calls, or in-person support sessions with a dedicated staff member over a cup of tea.

Relationship support

We understand that it can be difficult to maintain positive relationships and particularly, those with medical conditions or learning difficulties sometimes feel they benefit from some extra support to maintain these relationships. Farrow Friends encourage healthy relationships and can offer support to assist this by offering assisted travel, supporting with reading, writing, making phone calls and organizing days out to meet family.

Community engagement

Farrow Friends have four years of experience supporting people to live their lives to the best quality. We believe that community engagement offers a huge benefit to people's support. Farrow Friends actively encourage participation in community activities. We can offer support to find and engage with activities that you enjoy to ensure you are getting the best out of life.
