Working at Farrow Friends; Meet Michael

As an organisation we are incredibly passionate about the quality of support we deliver, and every team member we bring on board are usually chosen because of their personable skills that come from their own personal experiences caring for others.

Today we decided to speak with one of our team members, Michael. Michael has been settling into the role with us now for about a year and a half and has become a core part of our team, delivering and exceptional standard of support to those with varying needs and disabilities.

We asked Michael:

How do you feel being part of the Farrow Friends team?

I've been with the company since January 2023 and absolutely love it. It's the best job I’ve ever had. Every day is so different from each other which brings a lot of variety into the day to day role and I'm always finding new areas of development and ways to help the people I'm supporting to get the most out of their support.

Could you tell us a little bit about what a Support role is like at Farrow Friends?

Every day is different. I have been doing care for a while now and worked as a carer before coming onboard to the team here which I've always found rewarding. With Farrow Friends I really feel that it's nice to have a job where you can spend more time with people and engage with them. One thing that really stands out in comparison to other care work I've done previously is the focus on ensuring there is time to focus on building a strong and personable rapport with those we support. The difference in this approach reflects in the smiles on their faces when you take them somewhere and its makes their day. It's priceless.

What would you say to someone who is considering becoming part of the Farrow Friends team?

I've found that becoming a support worker for Farrow Friends has been great and continues to be a worthwhile job. Being able to listen to people’s life stories and see them engage with you is an aspect of the job that always comes home with you and makes you feel ready and keen to start the next day. You learn everyone's unique way of engaging in communication and activities, in fact one person I support has a very specific twinkle in their eye when they get excited, it's lovely to see the difference our support makes in that respect. Every day is different but every day is good.

Thank you so much Michael for providing your insight on what it's like to be a support worker on board with our team! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and the difference you make to the day to day living standards of others!

So proud of you little cousin 👍I know that you’re perfect for your role, as you were at the hospital & other care positions, due to the simple fact that you care about people, and have copious amounts of compassion. Keep it up xxx
